Gerber'S baking art from the Bernese Oberland, since 1925 When the farmer and baker Karl Gerber created the first Gerber ‚Hafergüetzi‘ (Oat Cookie) at the beginning of the 1920s, he was ahead of his time. What almost a hundred years later should become a way of life for many modern people was already at that time his credo: „A healthy diet with lots of enjoyment“. The ingredients had to be whole and natural. In 1925 the young baker applied with his creations for prizes at international bakery products fairs in London and Paris. Several gold medals were awarded to him. With commitment and devotion, his sons and grandsons remained faithful to the idea of an honest, natural and tasty wholemeal biscuit. The ‚Hafergüetzi‘ of Gerber was soon to become the most popular wholemeal biscuit of Switzerland.
