Green Jackfruit in brine (pieces) Organic, 400g

Organic Green Jackfruit in brine (pieces) from JACKY F.

Jacky F. organic young jackfruit creates more diversity on your vegetarian / vegan plate and can be used as a meat alternative. The meaty texture comes naturally through the high amount of fiber. You can easily create juicy burger patties, spicy Asian curries or your own creations.

Jackfruit is the largest tropical tree born fruit that is loved by vegetarians in South Asia for centuries. In Europe it is quite unknown. Jacky F. organic jackfruit comes from Sri Lanka where it grows in mixed crop. For the Jacky F. products only young jackfruits are used and not the sweet ripe jackfruits.

Behind the brand Jacky F. stands the young German start up Api Jamu GmbH. In Singhalese it means “Let’s go!” and that describes the mission of the founder Julia Huthmann the best. Jackfruit is wasted in South Asia massively. More than 70% of the fruits are wasted before they were even harvested. That inspired her when she was living in Sri Lanka. She decided to solve that problem and make organic jackfruit famous Germany.

The texture of young organic jackfruit makes it a great meat replacement for vegetarians or anyone looking to reduce their meat consumption with a natural and unprocessed product. With 6,6g of dietary fiber, jackfruit is a good source for fiber which supports the digestive system and gives a pleasant feeling of satiety. On top it is low in calories with 22kcal per 100g.

JACKY F.

JACKY F.(Translated by Google) Passion for jackfruit Julia H., the founder of Jackie F., is slowly getting to Jacky F. How it came to this change is a story of good food, sustainability, love, freedom, change and a passion for organic Madness). The last years Julia has lived in Sri Lanka. It began when she mistook the jackfruit in a small restaurant with chicken. "Why is it not in Germany?" And from this idea developed the idea of a social food start-up, which stands for more than just good food.

The beginning of Jacky F.

Hello, I'm Julia by Jacky F. I'm going to the grocery store, I would not have dreamed a year ago. But this fascinating fruit called Jackfruit does not let go. Now I am glad to implement my vision of a more meaningful, global trade. How this came about, I would like to tell you here: It all started when my friend got a commitment to a development project in Sri Lanka in 2013. I worked at Alnatura in the Sustainability department and was quite satisfied. Somehow, however, was always a certain adventure urge, which always kept me looking for something new. That's why the decision for Sri Lanka fell very quickly and about a month later my flight went to Colombo. Many of you may also think about just breaking out, dare to go and get adventure and experience in the world. I can only encourage everyone to go this way. Of course, you give up collateral, leave family and friends in the home row in the second row, but if one has packed the adventure in another country, it leaves one not so fast again. But I can tell you, the water I jumped into was quite cold. Not everything happens as before. The days on the beach and the new acquaintances helped a lot to settle in, but the future was planned. Many stones lay on my way, waiting to be cleared. At the time, just after the end of the almost 30-year-old civil war, Sri Lanka was no easy pavement for job-seekers. Visagings were opaque, international companies uninteresting for me and for everything else needed a good network that I did not have in the beginning. But after the first tasks in local bio companies, in a social business and a tree plant project, I soon found myself in a wooden toy factory. My time there was exciting. The language, consisting of loud crimps, is not easy to learn. The culture is different and fascinating and cordial. For me, the decisive factor was - I experienced freedom. I understood more and more why things are going as they run, learned that we can not solve all problems with our Western methods, and how important relationships with other people are. I often wondered why I liked the time in the toy factory so much, certainly not the big money or the great office. In retrospect I know that it was the freedom and responsibility that I had thanks to the great trust of the two owners. Moreover, the dealings with each other were human. This was shown by the fact that mistakes happened once and it is up to us how we deal with it. Sometimes I feel that in the modern business world, humanity is replaced by efficiency. Whether the long-term is the right path for us will be shown. I can only speak for myself and think that we have to bring more humanity into our economy again. After all, as the Alnatura founder Götz Rehn said, the economy must serve mankind. With this experience in my luggage, I decided to follow this mission - just how? My passions are sustainability, food and agriculture and then came a bit of coincidence. I sat in a small restaurant on the roadside. The sun burned and the meat lay open in the kitchen, not unusual, but I wanted to spare my stomach today. So I ordered vegetarian Rice & Curry. When I then, in my opinion, had chicken on the plate, I complained in the kitchen. But the cook looked disbelieving and said "That's Jackfruit". Then it began to turn in my head. I considered concepts, lent my sister the first startup book "head beats capital", made first digester experiences with jackfruit and in the end I became ever more sure that I would go this way.
