What is Konjac?
Konjac (Amorphophallus konjac) is an Asian root vegetable similar to a potato in texture but without the starchy carbs or protein or kilojoules. Known as konnyaku potato, devil's tongue, devil’s taro or elephant yam, konjac has been grown in China, Korea, Japan and most of south-east Asia for hundreds of years. Konjac root is composed of water and fibre. It can be ground into flour, boiled and shaped into a substitute for wheaten pasta or rice noodles. For instance, the Japanese traditionally make konnyaku or shirataki noodles by mixing konjac flour with water and limewater (calcium hydroxide). It is then boiled and cooled to solidify into its noodle lengths.

Hello, my name is Mai and I am the founder of Slendier. Thank you for taking the time to read how Slendier came into existence. However, sometimes we tend to over indulge, and this is especially true for my husband. He was eating too much!
I remembered a miracle vegetable in Japan, called “Konjac” and so to help him out with his overeating, I started using Konjac noodles in my cooking. The noodles enabled me to prepare a variety of cuisines and more importantly make low calorie dishes. My husband loved this alternative to traditional pasta and noodles. He felt satisfied and content.
This inspired me to start my own business and bring this great product to your table.
