About us
Michael Drugowitsch and his then partner Paul Burkhard started their dream of producing tortillas in Switzerland in 1995. It was a jump into the deep end. Suddenly they had to deal with bookkeeping, make investment plans and, first of all, organise tortilla sales: "We couldn't pay ourselves wages at the beginning, and it was only thanks to the help of third parties that we didn't have to sleep under bridges!"
The first tortilla chips were still chiselled by hand, deep-fried with hand fryers and salted with salt shakers. The chips sold very well and the purchase of machines was inevitable. This purchase almost bankrupted the company. At the low point of the business, Paul Burkhard then quit, but Michael Drugowitsch did not want to give up his dream and continued.
Today, MiAdelita GmbH is run by Christoph Gsell and Jacques Bossart in the second generation. MiAdelita is the largest producer of fresh corn tortillas and tortilla chips in Switzerland. Since 2017, customers abroad have also been supplied with MiAdelita products.
