Organic psyllium husks from Govinda - the high-fibre food

As a natural remedy for intestinal health, take 1-2 times a day with sufficient liquid. Psyllium husks can also be used to make jam.

The small, two to three millimetre seeds contain mucilage in the seed coat, which swells ten to 20 times with water. This strong swelling capacity makes psyllium husks an extremely well-tolerated and effective laxative that leads to easy bowel evacuation with soft stools. Psyllium husk laxatives are so suitable because their mucilage is not digested and therefore has two complementary effects: Water is bound by the mucilage, which leads to soft stools, and the swelling leads to a strong increase in volume, which creates a pressure stimulus on the intestinal wall. The result is an improvement in the intestine's own movement (peristalsis). Both mechanisms can be described as absolutely physiological and therefore without side effects. This is why psyllium husks belong to the group of laxatives that neither lead to habituation nor cause undesirable effects.

It is important for success that you are aware of the fact that psyllium husks owe their effect to their strong swelling capacity. Plenty of liquid - preferably water - is essential for success. A tried and tested method is to pre-swell one to three teaspoons of psyllium husks (5 g each) with a little water for a short time and then take it in the morning and evening with plenty of liquid (one to two glasses)

Note:
Ensure sufficient fluid intake. Do not exceed the recommended dosage and reduce or discontinue consumption if you have difficulty swallowing or are hypersensitive.

Recipe suggestion:
Making jam or marmalade: To thicken, take 3-4 tablespoons of psyllium husks per 1 kg of fruit. After boiling the fruit, sprinkle in the psyllium husks together with sugar (1:1) and stir.
