Engel-Tofu's Organic Seitan Strips are an excellent plant-based meat alternative. With their firm and elastic texture, they are perfect for frying and can be used in a variety of dishes such as stir-fries or Swiss-style "Züri Geschnetzeltes." The pre-cooked seitan develops a savory flavor that can be enhanced further with marinades or additional seasonings.
About Seitan
Seitan is made from wheat gluten (wheat protein). Wheat flour is mixed with water to create dough, and the wheat protein is washed out. The resulting gluten cake is traditionally cooked in soy sauce, seaweed, and spices to add depth of flavor. Seitan has an elastic texture, is low in fat, and cholesterol-free. It is an excellent source of plant-based protein and is ideal for replicating classic meat dishes.
